Making
A Difference...
The yearly raffle
event has been successful in giving many scholarhips to the area students. We have some repeat winners (see the scholarship
page) and most of the recipients are from Waltrip! Thanks to Mary Schroeder and Dee Holland the seniors at Waltrip along with
their English teachers did an outstanding job with the essay as well as completing the application in a timely fashion. The
Scholarship Committee, led by Donna Holle, brought more eligible winners to the board's approval than before. Just think 10
years ago, giving away one scholarship for $500 was a big stretch for us and today, we gave away 13 scholarships
at $1,000. I would say we are making a difference. This is possible due to the alumnae's ability to
sale raffle tickets and find donations. Norman and Debbie Adams and Cindy Reibenstein underwrote the raffle items this year
therefore all the ticket sales were availabe for scholarships. Are you able to donate?Any and all donations will go
directly to the scholarship fund. Who won? Well, many people won---all of us as we
are investing in the future. But specifically, Debbie
White, a preacher's wife and accountant, won the TV. Mrs. White donated the TV to the Youth
Room at Our Savior Lutheran. Her son, Adam, is working with the Senior Youth and they will be excited when they have
Movie Night at the Church.
Vicki Cook, won the airline vouchers. She was so excited! She
is a single Mom and one of her sons just started college and she will be able to fly up for special events. Garmin GPS went to Pam Jones. She is a Guard girl - class of '74.
She was very excited about winning! Sally's House: Making a
Difference. In July we are going for our summer visit to Sally's House. Give us a call or email. Join us for a short 2 hrs
of fun. Giving to the women, listening to their stories... trying to help with the activity that Paula Waller and Mary Schroeder
have picked out and just being there. The women are very grateful! Join us. Waltrip
50th Reunion is coming. Interested in the planning? Contact us and we will connect
you.

Community
Service Scholarships: Since 1998, IGA has presented $41,000 in scholarships to worthy students in Texas.
Scholarships are given on the basis of financial need, scholastic achievement, activities, awards, honors, leadership, and
community/volunteer service. Sally’s House: As part of its commitment to community service, IGA “adopted”
Sally’s House, a Salvation Army transitional residence for women who have completed a substance abuse detoxification
program. Sally’s House provides women with a safe atmosphere in which to build the skills and stability to become economically
and emotionally self-sufficient. IGA visits Sally’s House, providing shared activities with the residents, including
seasonal decorating and mini-workshops. IGA members also donate clothing, books and toiletries to the residents.
